LEXIS NEMEA

Ex’Arnon Red

This premium version of Agiorgitiko comes from the oldest vineyards of the Zacharias family, at the foot of the acropolis of ancient Fliounta. In this location, the famous Fliasian wine was produced since antiquity. Lexis N is a wine with a deep red color. Its nose has depth, strength, and density, with strong elements of red fruits, but also of sweet spices. In the mouth it has a full body with delicate quality tannins and rich flavor with notes of cherry, vanilla, coffee, and sweet spices, while it is distinguished by a strong long aftertaste.

Robert Parker: A single-vineyard Agiorgitiko (Tsintari Vineyard) was aged for 12 months in 30% new French oak. It comes in at 14.7% alcohol. This is the winery’s premium Agiorgitiko. This maintains mid-palate finesse while still showing fine concentration of flavor. It doesn’t feel thick or jammy, but the big red fruit nuances are up front and delicious. Of course, some of the flavor is also concealed by the new wood, but that gets better as this sits in the glass. This is just a little tight on opening, but it comes around fast. It is not a powerful Nemea, but it does have some distinction and some backbone, even with this late release. Its price level is nice for the quality. It should age reasonably well, maybe better than indicated.
